Independent School Management
Project Type: single page redesign
Time Frame: 24 hours

Background: This is a web page to learn more about the Independent School Management membership program. ISM wanted a modern, friendly feel while maintaining its brand of being the upper echelon in the industry.

Goal: Elevate the look and feel while remaining consistent with certain elements, such as the footer and navigation.  The new design also helped users easily compare, and understand the different membership's premium features.
Challenge:
ISM's membership and product offerings are often viewed as being of high quality, but also of high price. The complexity of the offerings also makes them difficult to digest and visually unappealing.

Process:
For this project, I decided to start by performing a basic heuristic evaluation of the original design. After assessing the design for possible usability issues I facilitated usability tests with a few volunteers. This confirmed the pain points for users attempting to understand and compare the different features available in the "silver" and "gold" plans. The membership feature descriptions each had to be opened and read, causing some to seemingly repeat on both sides with subtle hard-to-catch differences.
My design solves this issue by organizing the feature descriptions in one location, which is revealed as a group instead of as separate buttons. The memberships are presented side by side with clear lists of which features they do and do not have. The descriptions are also clearly labeled for which membership they apply.
These design changes lead to notable improvements in the user's experience with the web page. In questioning post-testing users generally claimed to feel they had a better understanding of the memberships.
